When you imagine Edgar Allan Poe’s classic, “The Tell-Tale Heart”, whose voice do you hear? Is the killer a woman? Explore a feminine twist on Poe’s classic horror tale at “Will You Say That I Am Mad?”, a special evening of mayhem, mystery, movies and magic in Poe’s Magic Theater at the historic Lord Baltimore Hotel.

Program

Poe’s Magic Theatre’s Vince Wilson and Dave Thomen: Our host, Poe’s Magic Theater Magician Vince Wilson sets the stage (and the mood!) with Edgar Allan Poe themed magic. Joining him is Mr. Dave Thomen (Voted WJZ-CBS news “Baltimore’s best” magician) for a very special performance of Magic & Mystery!

The Raven and film Q&A with Poe Movies: The Director/Producer team, Thad & Season Ciechanowski, will screen their acclaimed adaptation of Poe’s “The Raven”, followed by discussion and Q&A. Producers will also share details about Poe Movies’ planned production of “The Tell Tale Heart” and discuss the decision to cast a female killer.

The Tell-Tale Heart Live Radio Play, The National Edgar Allan Poe Theatre: A live performance by Jennifer RestakAlex Zavistovich and Brian MacDonald from The National Edgar Allan Poe Theatre. The company members will read a radio play adaptation of “The Tell-Tale Heart,” by Edgar Allan Poe and noted British scholar, Richard Hand (University of East Anglia), in which the murderer is a woman.

I smiled, for what had I to fear?”: The evening concludes with a vote! Attendees get the final word on whether the notion of a female killer is utter genius or purely mad.

Presented by Poe Baltimore,“Will You Say That I Am Mad?” is an intimate preview of what guests can expect at the International Edgar Allan Poe Festival & Awards later this fall. Proceeds benefit programming at Baltimore’s Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum. Representatives from Poe House will also be on hand to answer questions, help guests plan their visit to the festival, and provide information about all the “Death Weekend” events!
