Charlie Ross does magic and he tells jokes, and the ratio between the two shifts depending on how the room is behaving. The sleight of hand happens close enough that you should be able to catch it, and you won't. The mentalism is the part that follows people out to the parking lot, where somebody always announces they know exactly how it was done, loudly, and is always wrong. His shows move fast and they involve you, which is either a promise or a warning depending on where you chose to sit.

Calling it magic undersells the damage. Reality goes soft around the edges for an hour, and it does not entirely set again afterward.

Charlie performs semi-regularly at Higher Ground Cannabis Club and BluntSluts DC. He also hosts Magic Mic at El Rey in Arlington, Virginia, an open mic that gives local magicians a room full of actual human beings to test their material on, which is the only reliable way to discover whether the thing you have been practicing at a mirror for six months works on anyone who is not you.
