This Weekend at Poe's: The Houdini Spirit Summoning, Haunted Halloween Magic, and FaeryCon Is Coming
Just announced: 100 years after Houdini died, Vince Wilson hosts The Houdini Spirit Summoning Halloween night at 11 pm. Plus Vlad, a ghost tour, and FaeryCon Nov 13 to 15.Just Announced: The Houdini Spirit Summoning

Harry Houdini died on Halloween, October 31, 1926, and promised his wife Bess he would send a coded message if there was any way back. This Saturday is exactly one hundred years.
We were not allowed to announce this one until now, so here it is: Vince Wilson, author of The Houdini Séance, hosts The Houdini Spirit Summoning on Halloween night, Saturday, Oct 31 at 11 pm, right after Vlad.
Eight seats at the table itself, in the circle with Vince. Everyone else watches from the theatre seats. Come in costume if you like and raise a glass to the man.
Vince also talked Houdini with Jesse Weber on NewsNation this week. Watch it on our YouTube channel.
This Weekend at Poe's
It's Halloween weekend, the hotel is haunted (as usual), and the theatre has gone fully gothic. Here's what's on.

The Haunted Magic of Vlad
Friday, Oct 30 at 8 pm
Gothic magic and mysteries arrive for Halloween weekend.
The Haunted Magic of Vlad
Saturday, Oct 31 at 8 pm
Gothic magic and mysteries on Halloween night itself, which feels like the correct night for it.

Ghost Tours This Weekend

Lord Baltimore Hotel Ghost Tours
Saturday, Oct 31 at 10 pm
Investigate America's most haunted luxury hotel. Right after Vlad, on Halloween night. Clocks fall back early Sunday morning, so the ghosts get an extra hour too.
Coming to the Hotel: FaeryCon, Nov 13 to 15

In a couple of weeks the Lord Baltimore Hotel fills up with faeries, elves, goblins, ogres and at least one live mermaid. FaeryCon, from the Baltimore Faerie Faire, takes over the hotel for the weekend of Fri, Nov 13 to Sun, Nov 15.
By day (1 pm to 5 pm) it's a family fairy festival: a handmade artists market, workshops, panels, stage performances, live music and roaming characters. Costumes are encouraged but not required, and kids 12 and under get in free with a ticketed adult for the daytime events.

The Faery Balls
The nights are for grown-ups (18 and over). Friday the 13th starts with the coronation of the Faerie Queene at 7 pm, then the BridgerTroll Ball from 8 pm to midnight. Saturday brings the Unseelie Court's Faery Scary Ball, 8 pm to midnight, with live music from Brinjal World Music and Kindred Crow. You don't have to be scary to go. The balls tend to sell out, so book ahead.
Make a Weekend of It
Poe's Magic Theatre is open all FaeryCon weekend, a few floors from the festivities. Friday at 8 pm it's Poe's Magic Spotlight with Vincent La Padula, Saturday at 8 pm The Magic Showcase, and both nights end with the Lord Baltimore Hotel Ghost Tours at 10 pm. Faerie wings are welcome in the audience.

Weekend Weather
Friday looks mostly sunny and warm, with a high near 77 and a low around 51. Halloween stays dry and partly sunny, high near 70 and low around 52, so costumes can be planned around style rather than umbrellas. Remember the clocks fall back an hour early Sunday.
Downtown This Weekend
Billy Strings at CFG Bank Arena
The bluegrass star plays CFG Bank Arena two nights running, Fri, Oct 30 and Sat, Oct 31 (doors 6:30 pm, show 7:30 pm). The arena is just down the street from the hotel, so expect busier streets and tighter parking around Baltimore and Howard streets in the early evening. Leave a few extra minutes before an 8 pm curtain.
Rocky Horror at the Hippodrome: the restored film with a live shadow cast and a costume contest, Thu, Oct 29 through Sat, Oct 31.
Psycho in Concert: the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra plays Bernard Herrmann's score live to the Hitchcock film at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, Fri, Oct 30 at 7:30 pm (with more performances through Sun, Nov 1).
The Lair, a Halloween pop-up experience, runs at Power Plant Live! through Sun, Nov 1.
Halloweening Through History at the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House, Fri, Oct 30 from 4 pm to 7 pm.
Fell's Point Main Street trick or treat, Sat, Oct 31 from 1 pm to 4 pm, for the smaller ghouls.
Game Day
The Ravens are on the road this weekend, at the Buffalo Bills on Sun, Nov 1 at 1 pm (CBS), so M&T Bank Stadium gets the weekend off. They're back home Thu, Nov 5 against Jacksonville at 8:15 pm. The Orioles season wrapped up in late Sept, so Camden Yards is resting until spring.
At the Lord Baltimore Hotel
Saturday, Oct 31 from 11 am to 5 pm, the hotel hosts Billyween, a free Makers Family Shakedown artist vendor fair celebrating Halloween and Billy Strings, with live bluegrass from Creek Mill Grass Co. from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Staying the night? The hotel's packages pair a room with the theatre. Ghost & Glamour adds Poe's Magic Theatre tickets and a hotel ghost tour. The Weekend Mystery & Magic Getaway is two nights with VIP Poe's tickets, a guided ghost tour and the hotel's Halloween-themed events. Touch the Sky (Thursdays through Saturdays) comes with LB Skybar credit, late checkout, local craft beers and a welcome gift.
