There is no need to make dinner and the show a cross-town expedition. Settle in at LB Tavern before heading to Poe’s, or make time for a rooftop stop at LB Skybar, whose posted Friday and Saturday hours are 5–11 p.m. Check with the hotel about weather or private-event changes before going upstairs.

Baseball at Camden Yards

A downtown home series means it is sensible to allow extra time for parking and travel. If your evening includes an 8 p.m. theatre ticket, avoid plans that depend on a baseball game ending at a precise time.

Friday: Art, Music, and History at The Peale

Rhythm & Reels, Friday, September 18, 6–9 p.m., brings painting, a museum tour, and live music to The Peale at 225 Holliday Street. Visit Baltimore lists tickets at $20 for one person or $35 per couple. This overlaps our Friday show, so choose the evening that suits your plans, or consider a later ghost tour if timing permits.

Saturday: A Busy Day at Power Plant Live!

The Big Dill brings its pickle-themed festival to Power Plant Live! on September 19. The venue lists the event as sold out as of our September 16 check, so this is a useful downtown traffic heads-up rather than a promise of available tickets.

The Lord Baltimore Hotel dates to 1928 and was designed by hotel architect William Lee Stoddart. Its tall steel-frame design belongs to an era when a grand downtown hotel was a destination in its own right.

The building’s history also includes the struggle to end segregated accommodation. Baltimore Heritage documents student protest and pressure for integration during the 1950s, with policies changing in the years that followed. Looking up at a familiar façade is a reminder that a city’s history contains both architectural ambition and the people who pushed it to change.
